Mike Pompeo (unironically): ‘Authoritarianism is just a stone’s throw away’

No shit.

POMPEO: “As we celebrate, as we take this victory lap, we must also recognize that freedom’s never guaranteed. We spoke to this, it doesn’t just happen. Today authoritarianism is just a stone’s throw away. It’s rising, and if we’re honest, it never really went away completely.”

To quote from yesterday’s Washington Post story on the upcoming book A Warning by an anonymous Trump insider:

As he ranted about federal courts ruling against some of his policies, including the 2017 travel ban, the author writes, Trump once asked White House lawyers to draft a bill to send to Congress reducing the number of federal judges.

“Can we just get rid of the judges? Let’s get rid of the [expletive] judges,” the president said, according to the book. “There shouldn’t be any at all, really.”

A stone’s throw? Yeah, as long as it’s a really heavy stone. To be honest, you could drop it on your boss’s foot, Mike.

Does Trump make you want to delete your brain? Of course he does! But don’t do it until you’ve read Dear F*cking Lunatic: 101 Obscenely Rude Letters to Donald Trump and its breathlessly awaited sequel Dear F*cking Moron: 101 More Letters to Donald Trump by Aldous J. Pennyfarthing. Reviewers have called these books “hysterically funny,” “cathartic,” and “laugh-out-loud” diversions from our temporary hell on Earth. Don’t delay. Click those links, yo!
